Don't Be A Flake!!

A while ago my sister-in-law and I went to the city to do some grocery shopping and happened to stop at Sally's while they were having a 50% off red tag sale. Can I just say that's the absolute wrong thing to do when you're a nail polish junkie?!?! I ended up getting two China Glaze polishes and one Orly polish for less than $5. YAY!!

Here is one of the China Glaze polishes--a glitter topper called Don't Be A Flake! This one has matte sky blue and black hexes with holographic pink hexes. I did one coat over ellagee Forgetful Lucy. I love that in one coat you get plenty of glitter but can still see your base color!

Also, I apologize for the horrible cuticles and fingers~~allergy season is upon me and I have what the doctor called "dyshidrotic eczema". I always thought it was psoriasis, but no, it is a form of eczema and it is putting my hands through the ringer!! No amount of lotion or cuticle oil is helping! So, my fingers are flaking, and need to listen to my polish "Don't Be A Flake", hahaha!!

The Unprofessional Polisher

Neon dotticure!!!

I am so excited about the mani I have on the blog today! I already posted them once to my Instagram because I couldn't wait to share them with you all!

We've already established I am a neon lover, mostly because as I said before, I grew up in the 80s. So I decided to do some nail art using neon polishes.

After a couple of fails with what I had planned, I went with a simple neon french manicure. Then I thought, "You know, these are cool but they could be spiced up some. What could take these nails from bright to obnoxious?" The answer? MORE NEON! That's when I decided to add the dots :-)

For these nails, I began with one thicker coat of Sinful Colors Snow White. I let it dry for about 5 minutes. Then I used China Glaze Pink Voltage and polished my entire nail. I let that dry for about 15-20 minutes. I watched Deadwood on Amazon while I was waiting :-)...I'm trying to clear out my watchlist to make room for new shows but I keep adding things to it! After Pink Voltage was try I used striping tape to tape off the last 1/4th of my nail. Using Orly Melt Your Popsicle I polished the tips. I let that dry for about 5 minutes then I used ellagee Glass topcoat.

After the topcoat, using a small dotting tool and a very small dotting tool I dotted Snow White onto my nails in a pattern I liked. Then I went back over the Snow White using China Glaze Towel Boy Toy for the larger dots and Heart2Art You Had Me At Yellow for the smaller dots. After letting the dots dry for about 45 minutes, I went over my nails again with Glass topcoat to finish them off!

I absolutely love this mani!! It is so bright and fun and summery, plus it's a treat to look at, and tons of people have commented on it already! Hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

The Unprofessional Polisher

Excuse my blue french!

We've established I'm somewhat of a nerd who loves punny titles...this one just sprang to mind for this post and, well, I had to use it!

I bought more polish...after I said I was not buying any more. Of course I bought 4 bottles. Sheesh. I've lost count now of how many I have, but it's somewhere around 130. :-)

Two of the polishes I bought were these two. I have been dying to get my hands on the OPI Sheer Tints, and with my no polish buying of 4 bottles, I bought two!! And I needed some neons. NEEDED THEM. So I bought two of those as well ;-). One I featured last Friday, the other you see here. Not very well, but it's there. Trust me when I say I'll be using it again for sure!

I also have a confession to make. And it's hard to do. I have two favorite colors. Red and....ugh....blue. I LOVE BLUE! This is hard for me to confess because I am a Cardinals fan and our two most hated rivals wear blue. So I should hate it right? But I can't. I love it. Every shade, every shimmer, every glitter. I love blue. I also love the water, and anything beachy or tropical, and that's what inspired these nails!

I decided to use OPI Sheer Tint I Can Teal You Like Me for the whole nail, then China Glaze Towel Boy Toy for the tips. What happened was a squishy, oceany, lovely take on a french manicure. Hope you love them as much as I did!! I ended up wearing them for 3 days!!

China Glaze Pink Voltage

Today I have for you all an awesome polish that may have catapulted itself to my favorite pink:

CHINA GLAZE PINK VOLTAGE!!

This polish is a matte neon pink that has a slight light blue shimmer under some lighting. It's bright, it's summery, it's PINK! I absolutely loved it, both matte and glossy. And, I took pics both ways this time! The only complaint I have about this polish is it was a tad streaky; I had to do three coats for complete, non-streaked opacity. Other than that, it's awesome!

And here are the glossy photos. I used ellagee Glass for my topcoat...Ladies, if you haven't tried this topcoat, YOU ARE MISSING OUT!!! Fast drying, non-smelly, 3-free, cheaper than less effective brands...it is amazing!!! Also, it'll turn a matte polish into a gloss like noone's business!

These pictures really don't show the bright neon of this polish color, nor the high gloss of Glass...but you get some idea of it!! This is a really fun color for spring and summer, and I have a feeling it'll be on my toes soon :-)
